Voting System

In November of 2017, Denton County implemented new electronic pollbooks and a new voting system. KnowInk’s Poll Pad electronic pollbooks utilize an iPad to display the current voter registration data to poll workers, who are then able to validate a voter’s registration and ID, as well as, electronically capture their signature. Denton County’s configuration of Hart InterCivic’s Verity Voting system utilizes ballot on demand printing. This means that ballots are no longer pre-printed before an election; they are now printed on demand after the voter is qualified on the Poll Pad. Available in each polling location will be a Verity Touch Writer with Access. This is an accessible ballot marking device; any voter may use to make selections using either the touchscreen or through Verity Access. Verity Access is an Audio-Tactile Interface indented for voters that cannot, or prefer not to use the touchscreen. Verity Access includes ports for headphones, tactile switches, and sip-and-puff devices. Once the voter has marked their ballot, they will then simply feed the ballot through a scanner to complete the voting process.
